Life by Jennifer Humphrey

Inside I am surrounded by empty air
Better here than outside
The air is caustic, evil
One walks down the street needing oxygen
Every corner sucks you deeper in
Darkness thicker and thicker prevails
People wander aimlessly
Oppressiveness weighing you down
Longing for inside where it is empty
Wondering when it all changed
No more friendly gatherings
Families cut in half
The air feeding off of the spent energy
Cold so cold
The sun tries to break through with it’s warmth
Cleansing light
The masses drown it out
Home empty with no sound
Will it ever end?
Darkness consuming everything, everyone
Waiting
Fearing
Knowing it is coming for me as well
Laying upon the ground last cleansing breath
Gone swallowed up with the rest
The void victorious
